All recordings have come out brilliantly, and more are in the pipeline. The sound quality is always superb — hard to believe it is done on remote mics and not always in a studio.

Compliance & procurement FAQ

Answers for your security, IT, and procurement teams

Will our IT security team require HECVAT?+
Yes — many campuses use HECVAT as a standardized vendor risk questionnaire. We can support your vendor risk review process. Ask us for our security intake pack.
How does this relate to FERPA?+
We support institution-controlled workflows. Your team determines what is recorded, what is uploaded, and what is retained. We can provide standard contract documentation and a DPA on request.
What about UK GDPR compliance?+
We support privacy-by-design workflows. Sound Capsule does not require voice identification to make recordings. We recommend confirming your institution's own data protection approach with your DPO.
Do we need transcripts for published audio?+
Yes — transcripts are commonly required for accessibility when publishing audio-only content (WCAG / UK public-sector accessibility requirements). Studio plans include transcription features. Ask us how to integrate transcripts into your publishing workflow.
Do we need Wi-Fi to record?+
No. Record anywhere — in the field, in a classroom, off-campus. Upload when you're back on campus Wi-Fi, or transfer via USB. The Space Recorder includes internal storage for fully offline sessions.
Can we buy with a P-card?+
Often yes. Many universities set common P-card limits around $5,000 per transaction (some are $2,500). If you need an invoice, formal quote, or vendor onboarding packet, we can provide those quickly.
What about UK procurement thresholds?+
A single kit purchase is typically well below regulated procurement thresholds, but your institution will still follow internal quote policies. We can provide a formal quote and full supplier details for your records.
Is there a grant-funding angle for K–12?+
Yes — education foundations and district grants demonstrably fund podcast equipment and media studio builds. Ask us for our one-page grant language document, ready to use in foundation or district grant applications.
